7 Surprising Facts about EASTER that you must know about!!!

Have you ever wondered where Easter came from? Where did the Easter bunny come from? and the easter eggs? For your pleasure, I put together a top seven facts list about Easter.

  1. Easter name is from word “Ostern” from German language meaning “sunrise”.
    • Started by Gregorian churches.
  2. Easter Eggs
    • Easter Eggs was shaped like the tomb
    • On Sunday Kids would break the egg open to represent the cracked tomb and resurrection of Christ
  3. Easter Bunny
    • Brought by the German pilgrims  in the 19th century to the USA
  4. Jesus died on Passover, on the day of preparation.
    • John 19:30-31 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.
    • Leviticus 23:5-7 “The Lord’s Passover begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month. On the fifteenth day of that month the LORD’s Festival of Unleavened Bread begins; for seven days you must eat bread made without yeast. On the first day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.
    • Exodus 12:18 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at evening, you shall eat unleavened bread, until the twenty-first day of the month at evening.
    • Matthew 12:40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
    • Matthew 26:17 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”
  5. Jesus was the first to resurrect from the dead
    • Romans 8:29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
  6. Jesus went to hell(Limbo) to proclaim the good news
